Murray Sharp Psychotherapy
In addition to working in private practice for over 5 years I have worked in several counselling services, including the University of the West of Scotland. As a psychotherapist I have I have experience working with a broad range of people of different genders, ages and backgrounds. I support people with many different issues including: relationship problems, bereavement, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, anger, life-direction, and spiritual crisis. I pay attention to what is happening in the present moment and support my clients to do the same as it is in the now that we have the potential to change.
Before training as a psychotherapist I worked for many years in various jobs that were about helping and empowering people. I had a career in care working closely with children and young adults with additional needs, in particular those affected by communication impairments. I also have experience supporting people in the mental health sector.
I believe that much of our wounding happens in relationship and therefore our healing must happen in relationship also. Too often we are not met with the acceptance, compassion and understanding we require at the deepest levels of ourselves and the challenges we meet in life can seem overwhelming and unchangeable. I have come to trust that even the toughest mental and emotional distress can, with the right support, be a transformative and even rewarding experience.
I enjoy photography and filmmaking. I love being outdoors and in nature and take what opportunities I can to appreciate all the natural beauty that Scotland has to offer.
