My approach
Seeking help and finding the right therapist can be overwhelming. Congratulation on taking the first step on your therapeutic journey.
I aim to create a safe space to support your journey at a pace that feels right for you. I am passionate about working holistically and connecting with both the mind and body. I work using a Core Process Psychotherapeutic (CPP) model to adapt to the individual needs of my clients. CPP is an integrative approach that draws on various western domains, including psychodynamic, humanistic and existential, as well as eastern practices, such as mindfulness. Bringing mindfulness, a sense of spaciousness and non-judgement, to what is enquired into, can allow a gentler way of meeting what arises.
CPP emphasises the relationship between the client and the therapist. As Gabor Mate notes: we “don’t get traumatised because we get hurt, we get traumatised because we are alone with the hurt”. By working relationally, the therapist and client engage in a joint healing process which becomes the grounds for further enquiry.
I believe therapy also offers an opportunity to reconnect to the inherent wellness and health within us that is sometimes obscured by our experiences and conditionings. Reconnecting to this core health and knowing what the true self wants can help loosen old patterns and create a sense of empowerment.
My background and interests
I hold a BSc (hons) degree in Psychology, a MSc in Clinical Applications of Psychology, and a MA in Mindfulness Based Core process psychotherapy. I am a UKCP therapist in training working towards accreditation with the Karuna Institute and completing a CPD in “Our Journey Here: Prenatal and Birth Experience and lifelong influences, an experiential training for practitioners” with Cherionna Sills.
I have worked in the field of mental health for over 8 years as a Behavioural Analyst with children on the Autism spectrum. I am familiar with working in highly emotive settings and support my clients in self-soothing and empowering themselves through managing strong emotions. Working with a spectrum, I embrace and celebrate all differences and backgrounds.
I have experience with a range of areas including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, bullying, abuse, dissociation, pre and perinatal psychology, disordered eating, autism, sexuality, race, shame, low self-esteem, self-harm, family dynamics, relationships, communication issues, dreams, shadow material, spirituality, existential issues and life goals or purpose. My time in the NHS acute ward has particularly sparked my interest in the opportunity for healing and awakening that can come out of crises/ difficult moments.
Sessions
I offer both long and short term therapy in English. I offer a free initial session, online or face-to-face, to get a feel of how it would be to work with me and to see if we are the right fit. If we choose to continue, sessions are 60 minutes. I offer a number of limited concessionary rates according to circumstance, please inquire to request this. I look forward to hearing from you.
