Eleanor Catherine MA: Core Process Psychotherapist

Eleanor Catherine

ABOUT ME

As well as working as a botanical artist, I have been practicing Buddhism for 30 years. I am inspired and challenged by the Buddhist teaching that we are all interconnected, so my work as a therapist feels like a natural extension of my desire to understand myself and to connect more deeply with others.

I am fully accredited with UKCP, the accrediting body for therapists in the UK. My training is in Core Process psychotherapy, which fuses modern psychological understanding with the time-honoured practice of deep mindfulness. This form of therapy includes the idea that we have a fundamental ‘core’ of basic goodness and well-being that can never be lost, even in the midst of difficulty and suffering.

As a fully accredited psychotherapist I can offer a confidential and empathic space where it’s possible to address challenging life issues. We can work together over a shorter or longer term course of weekly, one-hour sessions, to find authentic and compassionate ways forward.

I charge £55 per hour long session. However it’s important that you find a therapist who you feel comfortable to work with, so I offer a free, no obligation, first session of up to 45 minutes. If you wish to continue with me we can set up six sessions and then review how it’s going.

I am working face to face and online. In person sessions are based at The Practice Rooms on South Parade, Summertown in Oxford.

Please get in touch via my website or by email.

Specialisms

Welcome

My own experience has taught me that sometimes we need someone to talk things over with, in confidence and without judgement. Feeling witnessed and supported by another person can make it possible to bring more understanding and kindness to ourselves and to take those positive but challenging steps that we couldn’t manage alone. Therapy gives us a dedicated space that friends and family may not always be able to offer, to explore how to work with areas such as:

Stress and burnout

Low mood

Bereavement or loss

Relationship issues

Career and life changes

Anxiety

Anger

Challenges in creative or spiritual life
